We have an exciting event with Ahold Delhaize and PAL Robotics that we thought would be great for your community of robotics experts, especially seeing that you have participated in previous events with PAL Robotics!

In the AIRLab Stacking challenge, teams will work on algorithms that focus on smart retail applications, for example, automated product stacking. Algorithms will be coded using a simulation that can later be deployed using the TIAGo robot developed by PAL Robotics.

The community could stand to win up to €5000

We are now into our 5th edition of the NUS Medicine Medical Grand Challenge (MGC). The Finale will be held on Saturday 21 August 2021, 10am to 2.15pm (Singapore time) via Zoom Webinar. We are honoured to have Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry as our Guest of Honour.

The MGC is a year-long student-led, faculty-supported medical innovation programme. It aims to encourage medical students to identify unmet healthcare needs and to work collaboratively with students from other faculties to form interdisciplinary teams to explore creative and out-of-the-box solutions to meet these needs. The team projects will be evaluated and scored for business strategy, creativity, design quality and health-care impact by a VIP panel of judges. The Challenge aims to nurture the following attributes in the undergraduates:

    • Curiosity – to question things and not accept current limitations
    • Creativity – to look beyond and find new solutions
    • Compassion – to care about issues affecting human health and well-being
    • Collegiality – to be able to work in teams to achieve more
    • Collaboration – to find value in working with people from different disciplines and backgrounds
    • Commercial Intelligence – to be entrepreneurial and understand what works in the marketplace

All work was done outside of curriculum time and projects were not graded for exam purposes. Boot Camps were organised to equip participants with knowledge and skill-sets to help them along their medical innovation journey.

This year, we have a number of teams competing for the grand prizes in the Nascent and Open categories and a special prize, with the final judging and prize presentation taking place during the Finale. Once again we have an exciting line-up of innovative projects from our creative and imaginative students from all faculties!

More information on the MGC could be found at our website: http://medicine.nus.edu.sg/cenmed/mgc/index.html and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nusmgc/ .

We invite you to kindly register in advance for this webinar before 1 August 2021 at:
